CHRISTmas

The best ways to keep Christ in Christmas
is to keep MASS in Christmas!

"I believe that Christmas is to celebrate the birth of the Son of God who came to live with us on Earth.
I believe that Christmas is the time for us to share Love of God Jesus Christ with people everywhere."

"Take time every day, to read a verse or two on the birth of Jesus. It puts things in perspective. Jesus is the reason for this holiday. Give Him recognition and honor, for HE is THE GIFT we ALL have been waiting for all our lives!"

"Live the Word and save Santa the trip!"

Christmas gift suggestions:
To your enemy - forgiveness;
To that frustrating co-worker - tolerance;
To a friend - your heart;
To a customer - service with a smile;
To someone in need - charity;
To every child - a good example;
To yourself - respect;
To a stranger - the Gospel.

Advent

We begin a new liturgical year as we celebrate the First Sunday of Advent. Today's readings are set the pace for the weeks that follow.  They invite us to enter into a time of anticipation.  The Latin word adventus means coming or arrival.  and in this season, we celebrate Jesus' triple coming: his coming into human history when he was born of the Blessed Virgin Mary, his coming into our lives now in his Word and in the sacraments of his Church, and his coming in glory at the end of time.  The readings tell us how to anticipate his coming: be vigilant, be prepared, be hopeful.

 ======

Advent begins today!

So how do we celebrate the story of Christmas?

For me, celebrating Advent is a big part of telling the story of the First Christmas.

The Season of Advent begins four Sundays before Christmas.

Simple.  Lighting candles and reading scripture.

You need 5 candles and a bible.(3 purple, 1 rose and 1 white)

A Simple Life.

To all my friends:
May the Season of Advent fill your Hearts with Love, Joy and Peace.

 ========

Today is the first Sunday of Advent. In a 1996 Homily, Blessed Pope John Paul II said of Advent,
"Advent is the liturgical season that prepares us for the Lord's birth, but it is also the time of expectation for the definitive return of Christ."

Thanksgiving Information

Taken by Martha Stewart's Thanksgiving Trivia via website.

Abraham Lincoln declared Thanksgiving a national holiday in 1863.

It was originally celebrated on the last Thursday of November, until 1939, when President Franklin D. Roosevelt moved Thanksgiving from the fourth Thursday in November to the third to allow for more shopping days between the fall holiday and Christmas. Millions of Americans protested and two years later, Roosevelt restored Thanksgiving to its former date.

The three-hour event is held in New York City. More than 44 million people watch the parade on television each year. NBC has been the official broadcaster of the event since 1955.

In 1924, the annual Thanksgiving parade started by Louis Bamberger in Newark, New Jersey, at the Bamberger's store was transferred to New York by Macy's. There were floats, professional bands, and live animals borrowed from the Central Park Zoo.

In 1621, the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians shared an autumn harvest feast, which is acknowledged today as one of the first Thanksgiving celebrations in the colonies.

The Intercollegiate Football Association was formed in 1876, and a championship game was instituted on Thanksgiving Day.

International Day of Peace

"Kind words can be short and easy to speak,
but their echoes are truly endless."

~ Mother Teresa

While International Day of Peace is being celebrated throughout the world today, remember that peace starts within our hearts. One thoughtful word, a caring smile, or a single act of kindness may not be enough to change the world, but it can make a difference in someone's day. Let's not forget to be compassionate and kindhearted towards others every day, we don't always know what they could be going through.

Pregnancy over age 50? Possible?

I read Sunday newspaper.  I read Family Circus comic strip.  I burst to tears. I want to be a mother for years and years.   I am 48 and I feel I am too old to start family.

After evening Mass, I met young parents of twin boys.  Cute and sweet boys!   I took a deep breath and told myself  "don't cry" "don't cry" .  I try my best not to show my tears in the front of  them.

I cried in my car on the way home from Church.  I won't give up my dream. I decided surf the Internet about Pregnancy after 50.  Look what I found.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pregnancy_over_age_50

Meaning that I have to start workout now to slim down my body and bring my healthy eggs back.

Please keep me in your prayer.  Please give me a hug the next time you see me.

 ===============================================================

Hello friends,
I received comments about my previous post "Pregnancy over age 50? Possible?"
Just thought I want share them with you all.
I cannot reveal their name.

  • Please also remember that there are children out there in this world who would love to have you as a parent now.Every day more n more children are taken by the system needing loving n nurturing homes.Being a parent doesn't always have to mean biological children. (Name Withheld)

    ================================================

    I pray that you would want to "find a man" because you feel a vocation to life-giving love within the Sacrament of Marriage.
    Children are a fruit of that union, and no man should be seen or used as a baby maker.
    How are you being a gift of yourself
    to nurture "children" today?
    I know a single woman who is one of the most motherly women I have ever met. She fosters drug babies through the state, and has mothered many, many babies over the years.
    I will offer prayer tonight for your calling to your vocation as a mother. Pope John Paul II says we are all called to take part in spiritual parenting. (Name Withheld)

Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary

It is the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The Church celebrates that in Mary there were no obstacles to prevent her from passing immediately through death and becoming the first after her Son to be raised body and soul into the fullness of God. (unknown author)

Blessed Virgin Mary was made sinless by God by PREVENTING her from sinning, then because of her sinlessness God can never allow Blessed Virgin Mary’s body to decay here on earth that’s why she was assumed to heaven.

In celebration of the Virgin Mary's physical and soul assumption into Heaven.

Thank you for all loving and protecting our Blessed Mother.
Thank you for enlightening me.

Aunt and Uncles Day!

Aunt and Uncles Day

When : July 26th

Aunt and Uncles Day honors a very special pair of relatives. They are your mom and dad''s brothers and sisters. We hope you have a lot of Aunts and Uncles. The more, the merrier.

Our Aunts and Uncles mean a lot to us. Among other things, they are most likely:

  • The backup caretaker when mom and dad go out, or are at work.
  • Real characters at family get-togethers and events.
  • Someone we can talk to and related to..... some things we just can talk about with "parental units".
  • Sound counsel and advice.
  • Someone who takes you to fun places and events.
  • Someone whose house is a great place to sleepover, especially if you have cousins.
  • The ones who give you great presents for birthdays, Christmas and special events.
  • And, the benefits of Aunts and Uncles goes on, and on, and on, and.........

Ice Cream Tea Time

National Ice Cream Day
3rd Sunday in July, every year

July 23, 1904
Charles E. Minches of St. Louis, Missouri, came up with the idea of filling pastry one with two scoops of ice cream, thereby inventing the ice cream cone.  The walk away cone made its debut later that year at the St. Louis’s World Fair.

Cheer Up

July 11th is
National Cheer Up
the Lonely Day

Cheer Up the Lonely Day is an opportunity to make a lonely person happy. Any time you can make someone happy, you've done a good thing, and should be proud of yourself.

Lonely people have few friends and loved ones. They may have lost loved ones over the years. They may be elderly. They see people on an infrequent basis.

Spend some time today cheering up lonely people. It's easy to do…just spend some time with them. When you visit, bring happy things to talk about. Keep the conversation upbeat, and lively. When you leave, give a big hug and let them know you enjoyed the stay. Sending cards or making a phone call is okay, only if they live too far away to visit. What a lonely person really needs, is face to face time with other people.

Wednesday, November 27, 2013
On the day before Thanksgiving, women across the country will be celebrating the day by wrapping a loaf of bread in an apron, tucking a prayer or a note of encouragement in the pocket, and then delivering the bundle to someone in need of physical or spiritual sustenance—or both. What could be nicer than receiving such a gift—and handmade at that?
