Betty Crocker's Fruited Tea

Much less formal, but still traditional, is she intimate tea for a few friends. At such a get-together just tea is served to a group of five or six, who are usually gathered around the living-room coffee table. The food consists of a few delicate sandwiches or cookies; the hostess pours. This is also the perfect time for the true tea-lover to offer her guests the more exotic brands of tea.
Betty Crocker Hostess Cookbook, 1967

Hot Fruited Tea

5 cups boiling water
5 tea bags or 5 teaspoon tea
10 whole cloves
¼ teaspoon cinnamon
½ cup lemon juice
1/3 cup orange juice
3 unpeeled orange slices, cut in half

Pour boiling water over tea, cloves, and cinnamon.
Cover and let steep 5 minutes.
Strain tea; stir in sugar and fruit juices.
Heat to just below boiling.
Serve hot with an orange slice in each cup. 6 servings.

National Pie Day

In celebration of National Pie Day - which is today, January 23rd.

Did you know the term "upper crust" comes from the world of pies?  It seems that in earlier times, few Americans could afford ingredients for a double-crust pie, so the term "upper crust" was born.

Tea Tips

For white tea, heat water until just before boiling and steep thirty seconds to two minutes.

For green tea, heat water until just before boiling and steep one to three minutes.

For oolong tea, heat water until just boiling and steep three to five minutes.

For black tea, heat water until boiling, steep three to five minutes.

For herbal teas, heat water until boiling and steep for five minutes.

Cut your tea caffeine by eighty percent by pouring a small amount of water over the tea, steep for thirty seconds, pour out that first round and refill your cup with water to steep for the full three minutes. Most of the caffeine is released from the tea in those first thirty seconds.

Clutter books

Did you know January is Get Organized Month.

I love books. I have few resource books how to organize.

reading them inspired me to start organize my clutter area.

I read FB news feeds about Transformation and Organization. Her post inspired me to start organize my clutter area.

Before i had a stroke. i usually dropped magazines off at the table in my father's office. End up pile high. I realized that there is no more room for one more. I have to learn to stop buy magazines.

The verse she wrote on her post touched my heart. I immediately pulled out my bible and read.

Transformation and Organization is a good time for me to start clean up the clutter in the cold winter day.

A dream is a wish your heart makes
When your fast asleep
In dreams you will lose your heartaches
Whatever you wish for you keep
A base in your dreams and someday
Your rainbow will come smiling through
No matter how your heart is grieving
If you keep on believing
The dream that you wish will come true

Snowflake

YOU’RE LIKE A SNOWFLAKE

Snowflakes are incredibly beautiful
and upon close inspection, although
they are seem the same, all we
wonderfully unique.

God created snowflakes as
nature’s reminder to us, that,
Although in many ways
we are the same, we too are
incredibly Beautiful and Unique!

All snowflakes have six uniquely symmetrical arms.

No two snowflakes are alike just like people.

Each of us is special. There's no one else like us anywhere in the world. Even people who look alike, such as identical twins, are different inside. We're like snowflakes. Did you know that no two snowflakes are alike?

Just like the snowflakes, we're all different. We all have things that make us special.

DON'T EXPECT EVERYONE TO BE JUST LIKE YOU
No two humans have the same fingerprints and there are no two snowflakes alike.

Each Christian is like Jesus in the world. We are His legs, arms, eyes and ears, etc. Each one of us has a very important role to play in God's plan. If we were all alike, how could God gather all
His children back into His kingdom? Not all of us can be preachers, doctors, missionaries, gardeners, or teachers. God gave us each unique gifts and qualities and He intends for us to use the ones He gave us and no one else's.

You are uniquely you and no one else. Your qualities and gifts are no better or no less than your fellow brothers and sisters in the Lord.

Romans 12:3-8 - Because God has given me a special gift, I have something to say to everyone among you. Do not think you are better than you are. You must decide what you really are by the amount of faith God has given you. Each one of us has a body with many parts, and these parts all have different uses. In the same way, we are many, but in Christ we are all one body. Each one is a part of that body, and each part belongs to all the other parts. We all have different gifts, each of which came because of the grace God gave us. The person who has the gift of prophecy should use that gift in agreement with the faith. Anyone who has the gift of serving should serve. Anyone who has the gift of teaching should teach. Whoever has the gift of encouraging others should encourage. Whoever has the gift of giving to others should give freely. Anyone who has the gift of being a leader should try hard when he leads. Whoever has the gift of showing mercy to others should do so with joy.

National Hot Tea month

Hot Tea in Dead Winter tea party

Come and join me to celebrate National Hot Tea month

January is National Hot Tea Month. As many of you know my heart does the happy dance. I love hot tea. I thought I would share some interesting facts I have discovered about the precious teacup. So sit back and have a cuppa with me.
Mo

Copied from the website.

It's time to set the record straight so the poets, painters, and musicians among us can begin our immortalization of the teacup!

- If standing, you must lift the saucer with the teacup when drinking.
If seated, you can simply pick up the cup.

- Pinkies should not be extended (despite what everyone wants to believe.)

- A teacup is not held with both hands. Rather you slip your index finger through the handle and placing your thumb on the top of the handle.

- Do not lift a tea cup while wearing gloves.

- No making music! Gently swish your spoon back and forth in the middle of the cup.

- Do not leave your spoon in the cup, but place it on the saucer behind the cup, preferably with the handle of the spoon facing the same direction as the hand of the cup.

- Do not swirl the tea in your cup.

- A cup of tea is not meant to be a thirst quencher or a means to wash down bites of food; it is to be sipped. (This can prove difficult if you've been served a very dry scone!)

- No looking at others over your teacup. Look into the cup as you drink.

- Fill teacups only 3/4 full.

- If you've been given a tea bag and not a small plate or saucer to put your used tea bag upon, it is appropriate to ask for one. Putting wet tea bag on your saucer will only cause you troublesome dripping a few moments down the road.

- Regarding the milk or tea first controversy - according to current American etiquette - it's the tea.

- Use milk sparingly at the tea table, or as Victorian mothers were said to admonish their daughters, "You might be taken for the daughter of a dairy maid."

- And lastly! When toasting, one does not actually clink the teacups (or any glasses for that matter). This was done in the Middle Ages to spill a bit of what had been poured into your cup into another's so you could be sure you were not being poisoned. Unless you find yourself at a surreal Agatha Christie murder mystery/tea, no clinking of cups!
